I am 26 yrs old and I think I have outgrown the word “buddy.” It should be illegal to call another grown man buddy or be called buddy past the age of 24. At age 16 can you get your license, at 21 you can drink alcohol, at 24 you can face real prison time if you call someone buddy and at 25 you can rent a vehicle.

Buddy should only be reserved for when you’re chatting with your little league baseball playing son and his teammates. Otherwise you’re pending trial. Don’t get me wrong, I am a HUGE supporter of free speech. Just not with this one word. I have been called slurs, I’ve been called ugly, I’ve been threatened with weapons, all of those things have vitamin D deficiently paled in comparison to how I’ve felt when a guy my same age has rung my items up at a gas station and said “ Us that all for you today buddy?” Call me a slur and I’ll walk off, but call me BUDDY??? You’re gonna hear from my lawyer buddy.
